Facebook rolls out code to kick the shins off Adblock Plus reblocking

  1. I go and block the page FB tries to force feed me. I can block commercials on TV and I intend to continue to block ads on FB.

  2. Well, I quit messing with Facebook nearly 18 months ago. Haven’t missed a thing as far as I can tell. Regarding adblocking, I’ll continue to use it. SPAM in the form of adverts on web pages is a PITA. If a site sez “let us SPAM you”, I close the page and say “adios”. I have spent a good amount of time writing filters for email advertizing and, by golly, those work pretty well. Got a great big bozo bin.

  3. “… After updating my Adblock Plus filter list on Friday morning (here’s how), I am still finding sponsored posts in Facebook….”
I’m not . . . because I stay away from Farcebook and other such “social” sites. They have nothing to offer that’s worth the exposure.

  4. Rather than trying to block ads, which appears to be proving more and more difficult, can’t someone come up with a service, which lets you choose what you get to see. So rather than going to FB directly, why not have a service, which logs onto FB for you and displays the news feeds that you want to see, there by limiting everything else, irrespective of if its an ad or not. Whitelisting might be the way forward…
